Frequently asked questions

Can I get a mortgage in Spain if I don't live here?+

Yes. Spanish banks lend to non-residents, usually up to 60–70% of the lower of price and valuation. You'll need savings for the rest plus purchase costs.

What is the NIE and do I need it?+

It's the foreigner identification number, and you need it to sign the purchase and the mortgage. We help you get it at a Spanish consulate, in Spain, or through a representative.

My income is in dollars or pounds. Is that a problem?+

No, but banks apply a safety margin for currency risk and look closely at your income history. We present your case to the banks most comfortable with your currency.

Do I have to travel to Spain to sign?+

Not necessarily. You can grant a power of attorney at a Spanish consulate or a local notary (with apostille) and we sign on your behalf.

How long does it take?+

Typically 4 to 8 weeks from complete documentation, depending on the bank and translations.

How much does it cost me?+

Our service is free for you. We are paid by the bank when the mortgage is signed.
